Why I choose to be a part of Jehovah's witnesses

We know authority is a distasteful word to many people. This is understandable since authority is often abused--on the job, in the family, and by the governments. The bible says: " Man has dominated man to his injury." (eccl 8:9) Many have dominated others by acting in a tyrannical and self-serving manner. It might be said also that our body exercises authority over us. It orders us to breath, eat, drink, and sleep. We know that this is not oppressive. Compliance with these demands is for our good. While submission to our bodily needs may be involuntary, there are other forms of authority that require our WILLING subjection.

What authority should we follow?

That is a question we all need to discern and meditate on? Who's authority are we truly under and who has authority over us?

My belief is as our creator, Jehovah has the right to exercise his authority as he chooses. THis might seem frightening, especially when we consider that God has an abundance of dynamic energy. He is called the Almighty God. This conveys the idea of overpowering strength. Yet Jehovah shows his strength in a benevolent way, for his dominant quality is love.

Benevolent-what does that word really mean? definition- Marked by or disposed to doing good or organized for the purpose of doing good. Marked by or a suggestion of goodwill.

Jehovah is the true God, the faithful God, keeping covenant and loving-kindness in the case of those who love him and those who keep his commandments.

Just imagine, the Supreme authority of the universe does not force us to serve him. Rather, we are drawn to him because of his love. Submitting to Jehovah's authority is even a pleasure, for his laws always work to our ultimate benefit.

Our first parents rejected God's Sovereignty. They wanted to decide for themselves what was good and what was bad.

Lets think on the matter, whose authority are we under now, the governments, Laws of the people, people worshipping actors and actresses ( idol worship ) sports, materialism, greed, money, drugs, alcohol. These could all constitute that we are under some type of authority.

I personally am happy to say Jehovah's authority takes me away from all those others and allows me to focus on the true authority and where it is supposed to be put. It is not a burden or a hindrance that I accept God's authority rather than man. It is because of my love for him that I choose to accept it readily, eagerly and whole-souled.

Since I have put myself forward and said to Jehovah that yes I am here show me the way to go, my life has had some ups and downs but nothing compared to him not being in my life. Yes, I have been persecuted and of course, that will continue. But, do I want my life to go back to being what it was.

Never will I say that, absolutely NOT. I am more happy then I have ever been. Knowing that Jehovah loves me so much that he gave his son as a ransom sacrifice for many, and I am one of the many.

Yes, I do not celebrate holidays and participate in voting or hail the flag, because I only honor Jehovah God, and no one else.

No one really realizes how burdensome it is to celebrate all those holidays, I actually have felt very good not spending tons of money on presents and worrying about decorations and so forth. All that hustle and bustle for what.

My life has been focused and put in order, where I do not have to worry every month about this or that. I worry only about my service to Jehovah.

When I go to the Kingdom Hall, I know I am welcome, I know that their are brothers and sisters their that truly love me for who I am. They accept me, this is the brotherhood of Jehovah's witnesses. I don't have to worry about a tray being passed around and giving money because it is mandatory in the other churches. If I want to support the work I can donate money it is my option.

Nonetheless--the feeling of joy and happiness that I feel it cannot be explained. Every time I think of the feeling it brings tears to my eyes. It is a pleasure to serve and be a witness for Jehovah. It is a love that is abundant.

I know that their are alot of people that cannot accept us for who we are and what we stand for. That is their choice, it is our persecution, when they talk bad about us, truly not really knowing who we are, as a group, as individuals.

We base our beliefs on the bible and the bible is our text book, we do not deviate from that. We do not choose verses here and there as others do in other religions. We submit to the word of God.

People have the choice to choose what religion that want to be in.

I have made my choice with my whole heart, whole mind and whole soul.
